History of the Night Tube
The London Night Tube officially commenced on 19 August 2016, initially with the Central and Victoria lines. Launched by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, the service aimed to bolster the city's nighttime economy and improve safety for those travelling at night. Though slated to start in 2015, its debut was postponed due to labour disputes.
Interruptions and Resumption of Service
Night Tube operations were halted in March 2020 as a response to the pandemic, reallocating resources to support busier daytime services. Following a 20-month hiatus, the service was partially reinstated in November 2021, beginning with the Central and Victoria lines and gradually expanding to include additional lines. Full operations were restored in July 2022.
