Map of the Metropolitan Line (Met line)Updated: May 2023The Met is the world's first tube, opened in 1863. It was named after the company that built it, the Metropolitan Railway Company. This line grew and expanded over the years until it reached the suburbs. Some original sections of the Metropolitan line became part of the Hammersmith, District and Circle lines.
